Terms of Service

Who we are. OctoDrones is a trading name of Kraken Group Pty Ltd (ABN 89 691 134 728), an Australian company based in Tasmania ("OctoDrones", "we", "us"). These terms cover octodrones.com.au and our products: Radar, Index, Mothership, Portal and the Book drone work service. By using any of them, you agree to these terms.

1. Subscriptions

• One subscription per business. Your business holds one subscription, on one bill, covering OctoDrones Mothership and Portal. Add or remove an app at any time; everyone you invite works under the same subscription with their own login.
• Every new account starts with a 30-day free trial. No payment details are needed to start, and nothing is charged during the trial.
• OctoDrones Mothership is priced per business, monthly or yearly, plus GST, at the rate shown when you subscribe, with unlimited aircraft and users. It includes 100 GB of storage. Adding or removing aircraft does not change the price. A yearly plan costs twelve times the monthly price.
• If you save a card during the trial, the first charge happens the day the trial ends. Billing then continues monthly until you cancel.
• You can cancel at any time through Manage billing. Access continues to the end of the period you have paid for.
• Prices may change with at least 30 days’ notice to your account email. A change applies from your first billing date after the notice period; if you do not want to continue at the new price, cancel before then and access runs to the end of the period you have paid for.
• OctoDrones Portal is one app, priced per business, monthly or yearly, plus GST, at the rate shown when you add it: Portal AUD 150 a month, and AUD 200 a month in total once your business adds its first DJI Dock, which adds dock control. Adding your first dock raises the price once you agree to it, and when your last dock leaves the price drops back by itself. Both are prorated from the day of the change, and there is no lock-in. The price is the same whether or not your business has Mothership; a yearly plan costs twelve times the monthly price. Portal starts with a 30-day free trial with every feature. No card is needed to try it; making maps on our servers needs a card and is charged as you go, at the price shown before each map starts. A trial includes no processing on our servers.
• With a DJI Dock, OctoDrones Portal includes that first dock. Each extra dock is AUD 40 a month plus GST and adds 250 GB to the business’s storage, from the day it joins (prorated), and stops when it leaves. An account that already pays a lower price for an extra dock keeps that price.
• OctoDrones Portal includes a shared pool of 5,000 photos and 20 Gaussian splats a month per account. Processing over it is AUD 15 per 1,000 photos and AUD 5 per Gaussian splat, plus GST: the cost is shown before a map starts, the map only starts when the business owner or an admin agrees, and the charge goes on your next bill. If a map fails because of the photos, it still uses that month’s included processing, and after two failed tries with the same photos, fix the photos or contact us before trying again. If a map fails on our side, nothing is used and any extra charge is removed.
• Storage included: OctoDrones Mothership 100 GB, and 1 TB with Portal. More storage is AUD 50 per TB a month plus GST, in simple steps: 500 GB AUD 25, 1 TB AUD 50, 2 TB AUD 100, 5 TB AUD 250, 10 TB AUD 500, then AUD 50 for each extra TB, with no maximum. You can change it up or down at any time, with no lock-in; you can go down once your files fit in the smaller amount.
• Live streaming: OctoDrones Mothership and OctoDrones Portal each include 2 live streams at once at full quality, with any number of viewers. More streams at once are AUD 20 a month each plus GST, and each DJI Dock includes its own stream. There is no charge by the viewer or by the minute. While you watch, your device also passes the video on to a few other people watching the same stream. This uses some of your upload data, mobile data included.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details go directly from your browser to Stripe — they never touch our servers.

2. Your records, your responsibility

• Your records are yours. You can download a complete export — every record as PDFs, plus your attachments and raw data — at any time from Settings.
• If your trial lapses or your subscription ends, your records remain available for download for 30 days. After that they are permanently deleted. We are under no obligation to retain records for accounts that are not subscribed — export your records before the deadline.
• OctoDrones Mothership is a record-keeping and operations tool. You remain solely responsible for your compliance with CASA regulations, including the accuracy and completeness of your records and any record-retention obligations that apply to your operation. Using our software does not transfer any of those obligations to us.
• Aircraft syncing connects to your manufacturer account (such as DJI) using credentials you provide, and you authorise us to fetch your flight data on your behalf. The records we build depend on the data your aircraft and its manufacturer make available.

3. Radar and Index

• OctoDrones Radar and Index are free informational tools, provided as-is.
• Airspace information related to Australia is not approved under Australian Civil Aviation Safety Regulation Part 175 (CASR Part 175), is advisory only, and is not to be used for the purpose of air navigation. OctoDrones Radar is not a CASA-verified drone safety app; CASA verification reopens for new apps when Airservices' Flight Information Management System (FIMS) launches.
• OctoDrones Radar draws from official and public sources — NOTAMs and briefing data from Airservices Australia, government weather models, CASA rule sets. What no online service can guarantee is delivery: an outage or delay anywhere between those sources and your screen can leave information incomplete or stale. The pilot in command remains responsible for their own pre-flight briefing.
• OctoDrones Index presents label information for products registered with the APVMA. Always read the actual product label before using any chemical.
• The pilot in command is responsible for every flight decision. The chemical user is responsible for every application decision. These tools inform your decisions; they do not make them, and we accept no liability for decisions made using them.

4. Book drone work

• Submitting a job request is an enquiry, not a contract. Any work is agreed separately between you and the operator who takes the job.
• We may place your job with a trusted operator in our network. The details you provide — your contact details, the work sites you draw, and your job description and attachments — are shared with the operator who takes the job.
• Referred and shared jobs between operators. Operators can refer jobs to each other through OctoDrones Mothership. A referred job is an offer: nothing transfers until the receiving operator accepts it, and on acceptance the job, its records and its customer links move to the receiving operator. Referrals are free. OctoDrones charges nothing on either side for a referred job. A job may also be offered as a shared job: both operators hold the job, the nominated percentage split is recorded on both sides, and settling the job revenue between the operators remains a matter between them. Job statuses must reflect the true state of the work.

5. Accounts

• The account owner controls who has access and at what level, and is responsible for the people they add and for keeping logins secure.
• We may suspend or close accounts used unlawfully, abusively, or in a way that harms the service or other users.

6. The service

• Your records are the point of this product, and we look after them accordingly. Like any online service, we cannot promise uninterrupted availability — and your complete export is always one click away in Settings, so a copy of your records is never out of your reach.
• Features may be added or improved at any time. Updates are included in every subscription.

7. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to re-supplying the service or refunding the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for flight, chemical or operational decisions made by you or your personnel.

8. Intellectual property

The service — Mothership, Portal, Radar, Index and Book drone work — including its software, design, code, data pipelines, verdict rules, images and text, is the property of Kraken Group Pty Ltd trading as OctoDrones and its licensors, and is protected by copyright and trade mark law. Your subscription is a licence to use the service, not to copy it. You must not copy, reproduce, scrape, harvest, reverse engineer, frame on another domain, or build a competing product from any part of the service or the data it serves without our written permission. Automated access is limited to the pages and apps we publish.

9. General

These terms are governed by the laws of Tasmania, Australia. We may update these terms from time to time; material changes will be notified to your account email, and continued use of the service after a change means you accept it.
